Workshop Topics:

  • Centralization vs. Decentralization: The pros and cons of centralization. What functions should be centralized and how should they be managed for maximum efficiency? What is the "federated model" and how does it work?

  • Allocation of staff resources: What are the right job roles and organization structures to drive high impact, efficiency, and job satisfaction?

  • Governance of learning management systems: How do best-practice organizations manage content integration, distributed administration, standards, reporting, and customization needs? How should your technology group be organized? How can you make sure your LMS is driving maximum business benefits?

  • The CLO role: What are the characteristics and key attributes of a high impact CLO? Should your company have a CLO? What role should they play?

  • Managing measurement and reporting of learning: What are best practices for establishing and delivering operational and strategic measures which give you management information for improvement?

  • Managing shared services: How can your organization best meet the needs for performance consulting, content development, delivery, and support? What organizational models are best practices? How can you share best-practices across your enterprise?

  • Support of business unit training needs: What organizational models best meet the needs of business units? How do learning professionals best work within business organizations?

  • Relationship between training and HR: What functions should be shared and which functions should be separated? How to best-practice organizations make sure that training and HR are aligned?

Workshop Deliverables:

  • A personalized organization assessment: A personalized assessment of your learning organization today and it compares to best-practice organizations. All attendees will complete a survey prior to the event which will be analyzed in advance.
  • A tailored action plan: During the workshop you will develop a tailored action plan for implementing improvements and change.
  • Followup event: All attendees will be invited to a collaborative, online post-workshop online event to share action plans and results.

Workshop Experience:

  • Collaboration with Peers: At the event you will meet with and interact with other CLOs, Training Directors, HR Executives and managers to share challenges, best-practices, and implementation plans.

  • Virtual Workspace: To help attendees prepare for the intensive workshop, we will set up and facilitate a virtual workspace for prerequisite assignments, ongoing collaboration, and workshop followup. The workspace will be live for a period of 90 days, to give attendees ample time to network before and after the event.

Leighanne DeMarzo, Director of Strategic Services, Bersin & Associates

Leighanne DeMarzo is Director of Strategic Services and Benchmarking and a Principal Analyst in Workforce Performance Management. Her primary area of focus is the development and delivery of the Bersin & Associates What Works® Benchmarking service.

Leighanne has extensive experience in enterprise learning and performance management and consults regularly with CLOs and Senior HR Executives.

Prior to joining Bersin & Associates, Leighanne was responsible for the development of highly regarded and successful Enterprise Learning Consulting Practice at SystemLink Enterprise Solutions. At SystemLink, she led the design, development, and implementation of learning and performance solutions for Fortune 1000 companies including such companies as Rohm and Haas, The Coca-Cola Company, The Boeing Company, Hitachi Data Systems, and MassMutual.

At SmartForce, Leighanne served as the Solution Design Manager for the Global Services Division responsible for a team of Solution Architects who worked to design high impact learning solutions. Prior to SmartForce, she worked for Gulfstream Aerospace as Director of eLearning, Edutrek International/AUI as the Director of Organizational Development, and for Deloitte Consulting as a Human Resources Consultant.

Leighanne holds a M.B.A and a Master's degree in Human Resource Development from The University of Georgia and Georgia State University, and a Bachelor's degree from Clemson University. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) as well as an active member of the American Society for Training and Development, speaking frequently at industry conferences.

Josh Bersin, Principal and Founder, Bersin & Associates

Josh Bersin is the principal and founder of Bersin & Associates. He has more than 25 years of experience in corporate solutions, training, and e-learning. He works closely with corporate clients and vendors to understand and promote best practices in blended learning, content development, LMS implementations, and training analytics and measurement. Josh pioneered the "What Works™" trademarked approach to e-learning research, and focuses on real-world implementations, lessons-learned, and best-practices in corporate e-learning.

Josh’s most recent publications include many articles in CLO, ASTD, Training Magazine, and Learning & Training Innovations, where he describes the process for linking e-learning to measurable business initiatives. He is also the author of a widely used book describing best practices in blended learning: "The Blended Learning Book," " printed by Wylie/Pfeiffer.
